It’s the $2.4m beachside home at the heart of the Kalyn Ponga toilet cubicle saga.

Video surfaced on Monday of the Newcastle Knights captain and teammate Kurt Mann being kicked out of a toilet cubicle by security at an unnamed pub.

The Daily Telegraph reported, the players have told the club that they were out because Ponga had purchased a new house on Saturday.

They had a few drinks to celebrate. Ponga, the club was told, was sick in the toilets and Kurt Mann accompanied him to make sure he was okay. The players, it is understood, told the club the cubicle door was open at all times.

The house Ponga bought at auction for $2.4m, before his celebration got a little out of hand, is a three-bedroom beachside shack in Merewether, just 300m from gorgeous Dixon Park Beach.

Ponga has had big bucks burning a hole in his pocket since he signed a new five-year $5 million deal to stay at the Knights earlier this season.

The three-bedroom Merewether home is an investment in Ponga’s future with the house a likely knockdown and rebuild.

Ponga’s family were on hand to enjoy the auction win, of the property bought to market by Simon Wall of Simon Wall Property.

“It’s a magnificent beachside location,” Mr Wall told the Newcastle Herald, who first reported the sale.

“The plan is to knock down and rebuild his own premises but he hasn’t decided on when that will be,” he said.

The wrecking ball beckons.

Property records reveal the auction guide was $1.95m. The home last traded in September 2008, for $795,000.

The media house price for Merewether is $2m, up 18.3 per cent over the last 12 months.

“Every now and then an opportunity comes along that is simply too good to ignore,” the listing read.
