A heroic passenger saved a young boy from being abducted from a Melbourne tram on Monday afternoon. The boy was travelling home from school on the 109 tram when a man tried to abduct him at around 3.45pm. The man was leaving the tram near Elgar Rd in Box Hill when he allegedly grabbed the young boy and tried to pull him out of the doors. A fast-acting female passenger intervened and pulled the child back on-board the tram. The young boy did not sustain any injuries. After the failed abduction attempt, the man fled on foot toward Box Hill central. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and a police statement confirmed “investigators are following up on a number of lines of inquiry”.
