Imran Khan released from prison

Pakistan former prime minister Imran Khan has been released from prison.

The former cricketer was granted two weeks of bail by Islamabad High Court on Friday in a graft case.

The court approved the bail after the Supreme Court on Thursday said his arrest earlier in the week, which sparked riots across the country, was unlawful.

Khan’s arrests has sparked protests across Pakistan resulting in the deaths of five people.

He has maintained that his arrest was politically motivated.

Two provinces have asked the federal government to deploy troops to restore order.

Police said 945 of Mr Khan’s supporters have been arrested in Punjab province, more than 130 officers have been injured, 25 police vehicles set on fire, and around 14 government buildings severely damaged and looted
