A search is underway for a man in his 40s who went missing after he was mauled by a shark on Saturday morning.
Emergency services rushed to Elliston, on South Australia’s west coast, at about 10.30am after witnesses reported the incident.
The man was reportedly surfing at Walkers Rock when he was attacked.
The South Australian Ambulance Service told NCA NewsWire they have crews on the beach waiting on standby as SA Police conduct the search.
The SAAS said there are currently helicopters and boats searching the waters near Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula.
SA Police declined to make any further comments, but did confirm they were aware and investigating the incident.
It is believed the injuries are life-threatening.
Elliston is located about 650km from Adelaide, and is a spot loved by tourists for its pristine beaches.
