Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is set to announce her unexpected resignation after more than eight years in the job.
On Tuesday morning, UK time, the BBC reported Ms Sturgeon would make her announcement at a “hastily arranged” press conference in Edinburgh. She is Scotland’s longest serving First Minister.
She took power in November of 2014, taking over leadership of the Scottish National Party shortly after the country’s defeated independence referendum.
